According the ABC North Queensland - this could be the city's best kept secret – a dawn gathering atop Townsville’s iconic Castle Hill with a brass band, hymns, hot tea and biscuits.
The annual Easter Sunday sunrise service has been happening for more than 30 years. Originally conceived by the Salvation Army it now involves the Townsville Combined Churches but anyone is welcome to come along – and they do with up to 300 people attending each year including regular Castle Hill walkers who just stumble upon the get together.
The sunrise service starts at 6:00am sharp on Sunday.
